Wim van Heeswijk (1962) chose to become an artist more than 25 years ago after a career in the commercial world. Boys/men are his source of inspiration. In his first years mainly through paintings, later also in bronzes. The works are characterized by innocence and vulnerability and the search for their own identity.

He has been in The Gambia for years now, where he has developed a lodge and cultural center Bereding where African and Western culture meet in workshops, accommodation and autonomous work. Wim is still active as a visual artist, mainly with sculptures and photography.
